Truffle Up

Truffle Up is a captivating 2D adventure game that follows the journey of three mushrooms—Moca, Temo, and Roe—as they embark on a quest to climb the legendary elder tree, renowned for its breathtaking view of the stars. However, their adventure is fraught with danger, as the tree is shrouded in an ancient myth about a giant blue spider that mercilessly hunts anyone daring enough to ascend its heights. Upon reaching the summit, the trio encounters the monstrous spider for the first time, only to be thrown down to the bottom of the tree, landing in a spider web. At the beginning of the game, players find themselves trapped in this web. To escape, they must work together, scaling platforms, solving intricate puzzles, and utilizing their distinct abilities to climb back up. Each mushroom possesses a unique skill set and specialized equipment that aids in overcoming obstacles and navigating challenges. Built using Unreal Engine 5, Truffle Up is designed to emphasize cooperative gameplay, requiring teamwork to solve puzzles effectively. Each character boasts individual abilities that contribute to the group's success. Additionally, a stacking mechanic allows them to stand on one another, enabling access to elevated areas. Moca, the stout mushroom, excels at moving heavy objects, pushing and pulling large boxes. Temo, the tallest of the trio, can cling to walls and function as a bridge for his companions. The smallest, Roe, can shrink, allowing it to slip through narrow spaces and reach hidden locations. The full game will consist of 24 levels spread across three chapters, with each chapter progressively increasing the difficulty. In the early stages, simple puzzles focus on utilizing each mushroom's signature ability. As players advance, challenges become more complex, requiring greater teamwork and coordination. Additionally, each character acquires new equipment throughout the journey, enhancing their capabilities and providing fresh ways to solve puzzles. Moca gains a hammer that activates seesaws and provides a jump boost for the team. Temo obtains a grappling hook, which allows him to reach high points and drop a rope for others to climb. Roe finds a leaf that functions as a parachute, allowing him to glide over otherwise inaccessible platforms. Truffle Up ensures that every player plays an equal role in solving puzzles, preventing anyone from feeling sidelined. The game's mechanics are carefully balanced so that each mushroom’s distinct shape influences its movement and interactions. For instance, Temo, being taller, has a higher jump capacity but may struggle in tight spaces due to his height. As a linear story-driven game, Truffle Up requires players to progress through levels to uncover the full narrative and reach the top of the elder tree. Upon completing each chapter, players are shown hand-drawn cutscenes that further immerse them in the unfolding tale. Additionally, each level contains a checkpoint system, allowing players to resume their journey smoothly
